Our Health

Hey Jimi,

I'll be honest — until recently, I'd never heard of Essiac tea. If that's you too, you're in good company.

Here's what it is: Essiac is an herbal tea that traces back nearly a hundred years to a Canadian nurse named Rene Caisse. She came across the recipe in the early 1920s and spent the rest of her life refining it and sharing it with people looking for a natural way to support their health. Decades later, she worked alongside Dr. Charles Brusch to preserve the original eight-herb formula exactly as she'd developed it.

That's the part that got my attention. This isn't a wellness trend some marketing team dreamed up last quarter — it's a hundred-year-old herbal tradition that's still around because generations of people kept finding it worth passing along.

Here's what most people don't know, though: most "Essiac" on shelves today isn't actually that original formula. Somewhere along the way, most brands quietly dropped it down to four herbs. Half the blend, gone.

Genuine Essiac didn't do that.

For 21 years, they've kept all eight herbs intact — the same formula Bryan Paulhus was personally entrusted to carry forward by Dr. Brusch himself.

Each herb earns its place.

Burdock root and sheep sorrel support detoxification.

Slippery elm bark soothes the digestive tract.

Blessed thistle and red clover support immune balance.

Watercress, kelp, and Turkish rhubarb root round it out with minerals and antioxidants.

Whole herbs, working together instead of isolated. That's a principle I hold in my own kitchen too — the body tends to respond better to synergy than to any one ingredient doing all the work.

You can read some of the experiences people have shared after adding Genuine Essiac to their routine here →. As a transparent, whole-herb tradition with a hundred years behind it, it's worth knowing exists.

If you want to try it, Genuine Essiac is offering 10% off your first order right now.

Happy brewing!

Top Ways To Improve Your Gut Health

Top Ways To Improve Your Gut Health
When most people think about getting healthier, they think about hitting the gym or cleaning up their diet — but there's a crucial part of the body that almost always gets overlooked. Your gut health influences everything from your immune system to your mood, your weight, and your energy levels, and when it's out of balance, the consequences can be far-reaching. This article breaks down the top 10 practical, science-backed ways to finally give your gut the attention it deserves — some of which might genuinely surprise you.

The food that relieves pain like ibuprofen

Hi Jimi, it’s Sarah.

When you’ve got back pain or aching joints, do you reach for an NSAID like ibuprofen?

Millions of people do it every day.

NSAIDs relieve pain by blocking an enzyme called COX-2, the same enzyme your body uses to produce the chemicals that cause swelling, redness, and pain around a joint.

Calm down COX-2, and the inflammation (and the pain that comes with it) calms down too.

The problem is, that same process can also damage your gut.

NSAIDs wear down your gut lining, a one cell barrier that decides what gets into your bloodstream and what stays out.

When that lining is compromised, inflammatory compounds spill into your bloodstream, triggering a chain reaction of inflammation and pain.

In other words, the very medication you take for joint pain can actually make your pain worse over time.

Now, I’m not saying you should never take an NSAID. There’s a time and place for them.

But if you want a safe, natural alternative, here’s something you should know:

There’s a natural compound that works on that exact same COX-2 pathway as NSAIDs — without the gut-damaging side effects.

In laboratory studies, this compound reduced COX-2 activity by as much as 80%.

And in a clinical study on adults with knee pain, a daily dose reduced pain and stiffness scores by 59%.

That kind of pain reduction can make the difference between watching life from the sidelines to getting back out on the pickleball court… spending more time in the garden… or saying “Yes!” when a friend invites you on a walk.

This natural pain relief compound isn’t a supplement.

And it’s not a prescription either.

It actually comes from something found in the kitchen that most people throw away!

I’ll show you exactly what it is, how to use it (timing is everything with this one), and 19 other research-backed natural remedies for joint pain in our brand-new guide:

If you want to eat for longevity, this is a great resource created by Drs. Joseph Antoun and David Jockers, Jimi.

In it, you learn:

 • The daily eating window recommended as part of the Longevity Diet: a twelve-hour circadian pattern from sunrise to sundown, and why they warn against living in a 16:8 window long-term
 • Why breakfast stays in, even inside a time-restricted day, which is where this guide breaks with almost everything else written about fasting
 • The macronutrient split, written out as real percentages rather than left to your interpretation, alongside where the diet lands on fish, alcohol, and dairy
 • The protein problem nobody warns you about: too much animal protein
 • Where the fasting-mimicking cycles sit in the year, how to space them, and the three-month onboarding pattern recommended for anyone starting from zero
 • A full week of plant-based recipes from breakfast to dessert, and a Longevity Diet shopping list sorted the way a store is, so you can take it with you as it is

There are some unique and novel ideas here; see how you feel after trying their recommendations.

Poor dental health, gum disease, root canals, and dental materials widely accepted as “safe,” like silver-mercury fillings, can lead to chronic disease: cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disease, even cancer.

And most doctors have no idea.

Did you know you're 2-3 times more likely to suffer a heart attack or stroke if you have gum disease?

And nearly 1 in 2 adults over 30 have gum disease.

Another alarming fact...

Fusobacterium, a bacterium directly linked to colon cancer metastasis, starts in your mouth.

Nobody knows this!

That's why my friend Jonathan Landsman, founder of Natural Health 365, interviewed many of the world's best biological dentists for his Dental Health Docu-Class.

In the class, you'll learn:

-How oral infections can fuel inflammatory conditions throughout your body

-Which X-rays detect hidden infections, and why a "standard" exam isn't enough

-The early warning signs of an oral infection your dentist may be missing

-Proven natural remedies for tooth decay and hidden oral infections

-The gold standard in biological oral surgery and implant care

-The steps to take before your next dental appointment

-How to find a holistic biological dentist

And more.

If you want to learn how oral infections, gum disease, old dental work, and toxic materials can be a threat to your health and how to correct these issues...

Happy Wednesday Jimi,We spend a couple of minutes a day brushing our teeth and almost no time on the rest of the mouth, which is strange when you consider that it's an entire ecosystem, and also the entry point of your airway. I've picked up five habits over the years that hardly anyone uses. They're all in the Deep Dive.
Every Wednesday I take one of these topics further inside the new Earth Conscious Life community. Here's what we're getting into this week.
🐿️ CREATURE FEATURE 🐿️Credit: Vulture Conservation FoundationBearded VultureThe only bird on earth who lives mostly on bone. Eating actual skeleton is about 85 to 90 percent of the diet. Their stomach acid is so strong it can dissolve bones within a day. If a bone is too big to swallow, they carry it high and drop it onto rocks until it cracks. Every 100 grams of bone gives them about the same energy they'd get from that weight of meat. They start as grey and white, but bathe in iron-rich mud and springs until the feathers stain a rust color. Nobody is sure why - one theory is that the compounds act as a disinfectant in sunlight. People hunted them out of the Alps completely on the belief that they carried off lambs and babies, and the last Alpine bird was killed in Italy's Aosta Valley in 1913. A reintroduction program brought them back, and there are more than sixty breeding pairs up there now, dropping bones onto the very same mountains.
WORD OF THE WEEKAposiopesis: A deliberate breaking off mid-thought, as if the feeling is too big to finish the sentence.

 1. Tongue scraping. Most of the bacteria behind morning breath live on the back of your tongue, not on your teeth. A scraper clears them better than a toothbrush does. You’ll be shocked what comes off the first time you do this.
 2. Non-PFAS floss. Dentists tell us how important flossing is, but the coating that makes most floss glide is a Teflon-style chemical. Find a brand made without it.
 3. Oil pulling. Swishing a spoonful of coconut oil for ten to fifteen minutes appears to help gum health. It's an addition to brushing and flossing, not a replacement.
 4. Nasal dilators. If your nose closes up at night (or useful during exercise) you may find dilators that go inside the nostril having better effect than external strips. Though both can offer support that make you take the fullest breath you have in a while.
 5. Mouth taping. Not as much science behind it…yet. But this focuses your sleeping breath as nasal breathing, which has significant benefit. *Only consider it if your nose is clearly open, not congested or the possibility of sleep apnea.

Five Oral Health Habits Almost Nobody Uses

A lot of people now have narrower palates and smaller airways than our great-grandparents had. There is no one answer that experts agree on as the cause.

Some blame a century of orthodontics that pulled teeth to fix crowding. Others point at our food choices, since a jaw is bone, and bone builds in response to load. So our ancestors spent hours a day working through tough roots, raw vegetables, dried meat and gristle. Whereas many of us now eat things that almost dissolve in the mouth.

Either way, your mouth is an ecosystem, and it's the start of your airway. Very few oral care products respect the ecosystem or the airway aspect of the mouth.
