In May 1974, residents of Albury in New South Wales looked up to find millions of baby spiders raining down from the sky and covering the ground in thick white silk. The phenomenon is called ballooning, where spiders release silk threads that catch the wind and carry them through the air in massive numbers, sometimes rising thousands of meters before descending together.
The event was not unique to 1974. Ballooning spider showers have been documented across Australia multiple times, with one 2015 event in Goulburn leaving entire fields blanketed in white. Australia was already the continent with the most venomous spiders on earth. They also fall from the sky.

Tarantulas keep tiny frogs as 'pets.'

It may not be as heartwarming a tale as an adopted puppy or kitten finding their forever home, but tarantulas live with pets of their own — well, sort of. One species of arachnid has been known to welcome tiny frogs into their burrows, forming a symbiotic relationship that makes for a more unlikely living situation than that of The Odd Couple.

While other spiders feast on frogs and vice versa, this peculiar mutualistic situation has been exhibited by the burrowing tarantulas and dotted humming frogs of the Amazon rainforest. The larger spider essentially acts as the tinier frog’s security detail, protecting the amphibians against snakes and other predators. In return, the frogs protect the tarantula’s eggs by slurping up any ants that enter the burrow, as ants are the primary predator of those tarantula eggs.

A donut shop owner was shocked when CCTV showed a raccoon at the window holding out what looked like a coin, as if it was trying to buy a donut.
She decided to give it one, but when she looked more closely, she realized the coin appeared to be gold.
Before she could figure out where it came from, the raccoon grabbed the donut and disappeared. Stranger still, it never returned.

The four prominent U.S. presidents carved into Mount Rushmore were chosen by sculptor Gutzon Borglum to represent major milestones and ideals in American history, from Thomas Jefferson’s Louisiana Purchase to Abraham Lincoln’s role in preserving the union.
 
The factory built a car with a driveshaft that bends.
A solid steel rope curved like a bow, running the whole length of the car under the floor, on purpose.
The 1961 Pontiac Tempest.
This was a compact family car sold against the small Fords and Plymouths, and Pontiac needed it to ride like a big one.
A normal driveshaft is a straight tube and it has to stay straight, which means a tall tunnel running down the middle of the floor and a heavy gearbox sitting between the front seats.
So Pontiac moved the transmission all the way back to the rear axle and joined the two with a solid steel shaft three quarters of an inch thick, bent into a curve on purpose, whipping through that curve with not one bearing holding it up anywhere along its length.
That is why the hump in the floor of this car is almost flat.
Three hundred thousand people bought one in three years because nothing else gave a small American car its weight split evenly front to rear.
