Scientists found a way to starve cancer while making immune cells stronger
Researchers have developed an experimental cell therapy that fights cancer by depriving tumors of one of their most important fuel sources. Many cancer cells depend on the amino acid glutamine to produce energy, build new cells, and grow rapidly. The engineered immune cells are designed to absorb large amounts of glutamine from the tumor environment, leaving cancer cells with too little of this essential nutrient to survive. At the same time, the therapy remains active in these low nutrient conditions, allowing the immune cells to continue attacking the tumor.
This approach creates a double attack against cancer. As the engineered immune cells consume glutamine, they also become more effective at recognizing and killing tumor cells. Meanwhile, the starving cancer cells struggle to repair themselves, divide, and resist the immune response. Researchers say this strategy transforms the tumor's own nutrient supply into a weakness rather than an advantage.
Scientists believe nutrient competition could become a powerful new direction in cancer treatment. Instead of targeting cancer cells directly with drugs alone, future therapies may reshape the tumor environment itself, making it increasingly difficult for cancer to grow while giving the immune system a much greater chance of eliminating the disease.

Vitamin B12 Linked to Brain Health

Dr. David Brownstein, M.D., writes:

Vitamin B12 deficiency is known to cause memory difficulties and dementia, particularly in older people. That’s because it helps maintain healthy nerve tissue. Therefore, deficiency results in the degeneration of nerve cells and tissues.

Because B12 deficiency causes degeneration of nerve tissues, it’s important to maintain high levels in midlife and later adult years. If deficiency persists for too long, the neurological consequences may not be reversible.

Special: Doctor: All Multivitamins Are Not the Same

Studies have shown that vitamin B12 therapy does not reverse Alzheimer’s disease. Vitamin B12 is safe and effective for preventing neurological decline, improving energy levels, and enhancing brain function.

For elderly people, B12 shots can provide remarkable results, regardless of initial levels. I frequently use vitamin B12 shots in my practice, and I have taught hundreds of patients to administer injections on their own.

I have a desire.I want to bring you to my place, draw you an herbal footbath, and listen to your story — to find out how you're doing in these challenging times. So many people I know are carrying anxiety, grief, overwhelm, or simply the feeling of being disconnected from themselves, from one another, and from the natural world.Since I can't welcome each of you into my living room, my dear friend and colleague Lauren Morgan and I created the next best thing:Rhythms & Relationships: A Feminine Way into HerbalismThis isn't another herbal course designed to help you memorize more plants or collect more information. It's a guided journey into a different way of learning, rooted in relationships.Together we'll explore how herbalism deepens when we engage not only our minds, but our senses, intuition, stories, dreams, and lived experience.
