THIS IS INSANE: A suspected plague outbreak has erupted in Russia, and the government is being accused of covering it up.
Read that again.
The alarm was raised in Siberia after a worker at an anti-plague laboratory died of a disease that killed tens of millions during the Black Death.
Her name was Daria Shipilova. She was 28.
According to reports, she told medical staff she had accidentally broken a test tube containing live bacteria while collecting samples.
She was hospitalized Tuesday with severe pneumonia, placed on a ventilator, and died Thursday.
Since then, nearly 200 people have been forced into isolation.
A hospital has been quarantined.
All public events in the region have been canceled.
And the head of Russia's public-health watchdog rushed 2,600 miles from Moscow to the Irkutsk region to coordinate the response.
But here's the part that has people alarmed.
The regional governor won't even name the illness. He's calling it "a dangerous infectious disease."
Reports claim antibiotics have run out in the region, sending frightened residents to pharmacies looking for help.
And one of Russia's senior epidemiologists called the broken test tube story "laughable," saying someone working at an anti-plague institute would be wearing a protective suit.
"We will not be told what really happened."
A Russian political insider channel went even further, saying the situation in Shelekhov "resembles the Wuhan case."
So far, officials say none of the contacts has shown symptoms and their tests have come back negative.
But the questions are only getting louder

Okay, here's my question:

Re: The alarm was raised in Siberia after a worker at an anti-plague laboratory died of a disease that killed tens of millions during the Black Death.

What the hell is an anti-plague laboratory? Are we looking at yet another case of bio-weapons research?

Yes that is just what it is a bio=warfare lab

On vaping and health, from an idiot on Reddit:

I think the nicotine is the least of the worries in the whole vaping ordeal if I'm being honest, I think it's the combustion/dont have a term for it in terms of vaping but turning fluid into vapor that leads to the adverse health effects. I do remember the nicotine free juice, used to puff it for fun in high school for a week before I got bored of it. Now I smoke cigarettes!

(I am adding): Oh good for you! Now you can go camping in the middle of the freeway without having to worry about the adverse health effects of a device that turns fluid into vapor.

Someone wins the Darwin award every day.

Dobie Gillis had a nice run on CBS from 1959 to 1963 with 147 episodes. Dwayne Hickman was heavily
typecast by this show and had trouble getting acting work after it. Bob Denver went on to Gilligan's Island after a few failed pilots, but was better on Dobie Gillis than he ever was on Gilligan's Island because Dobie Gillis was much better written.

What creatine actually is

It’s the fastest energy your muscles have. It recharges the fuel a muscle burns in the first few seconds of hard work — standing up from a low chair, carrying groceries up the stairs, catching yourself when you trip. About 95% of it lives in your skeletal muscle. The rest is in your brain and heart.

Why you’re probably low

Your body breaks down 1–2% of its creatine every single day, so you need 1–3 grams a day just to break even. Your body makes about half. Food has to cover the rest — and it mostly comes from red meat and fish. On a normal diet, your muscle stores sit only 60–80% full.

Your risk of a heart attack, stroke or heart failure can be greatly reduced by using this ONE habit more often in your life. The problem is: this is too easy to avoid.

In addition, as the weather gets cooler, you can use this warm beverage to increase the quality of your lifespan.
