Let’s celebrate… October is Spinal Health Awareness Month! What better way to celebrate than protecting yo’ back in every room of your house? This week, let’s head into the living room. And I gotta feeling your couch or recliner might have something to do with your back pain. The problem may not be the fact that you’re sitting. It may be how you’re sitting. And it’s not just your couch. Your phone, tablet, television, lighting, and even vacuuming can all affect your posture. Those little things can add up when you repeat ‘em every single day. Before you throw out your furniture or redesign your living room... Check out this week’s article and video to see 4 simple changes you can make.

Here’s a little preview: Why your favorite couch or recliner might not be your spine’s favorite. What your phone position can do to your neck and upper back. Why lighting can actually affect your posture. And how you can clean without constantly stressing your back. And there’s one more thing I really want you to start doing. I’ll explain that one in the video and article, too. As always, Be Your Own Guarantee for your health and life. Dr. Ryan

Hey ,

Reaching the point where nothing is helping your gut can feel defeating.

You're probably doing the right things:

- Seeing doctors

- Getting tests

- Cutting out foods

- Taking handfuls of supplements

Yet nothing changes for the better. In fact, sometimes things get worse!

You start to wonder if this is just how life is going to be.

You've sacrificed so much. Changed your entire life. And yet nothing works.

I want you to hear this.

There is a way out.

And it's not your fault you haven’t resolved things yet.

You've just been told to focus on the wrong things.

You see, gut dysfunction, digestive issues and food sensitivities are rarely caused by just one thing.

In fact, they’re often a combination of deeply embedded factors that set the stage for symptoms:

Chronic low-grade infections

High toxic burden

Nervous system stuck in threat mode

Mast cell activation

Nutrient deficiencies

Sluggish lymphatic system and stuck fascia

Most practitioners only address one or two of these. But if the other blocking factors are still present, you’ just keep spinning your wheels.

That’s exactly why I created the Food Sensitivity Summit.

It's designed for people who have tried the conventional approaches to gut health without success and are looking for real answers.

Reserve your spot for the 2026 Food Sensitivity Summit

** And make sure you check out the video after you register, where you’ll find a little-known tip you can start using today to soothe your gut and start reducing food reactions.

Over 5 days, you’ll hear from integrative doctors, clinical researchers, functional immunologists, and educators who specialize in complex, persistent cases.

They’ll share the latest insights on how gut barrier function, immune regulation, nervous system balance, infections, and toxin load intersect to cause chronic gut dysfunction.

Most importantly, you’ll discover what you can do to actually experience relief.

Save your seat for the Food Sensitivity Summit and finally get the answers conventional approaches miss.

Wishing you abundant health,

Have you ever had someone nod along in your sessions, then go home and not follow through?

It’s frustrating.

One of the most powerful benefits of nutrigenomics is that it gives people a personal “aha moment.” When they see their genetics on paper, suddenly your recommendations aren’t abstract - they’re personal.

For example, People with MTHFR variants may not use folate and B12 efficiently. Showing them how diet and lifestyle can bypass that bottleneck makes your advice tangible, and motivates action.

That’s just one of the ways genetics make your plans more effective.

In the Genes to Action: The Nutrigenomics Clinical Strategy Workshop, I’ll show you how to use DNA not just for personalization, but also as a motivational tool that helps people stick with your recommendations and see real results.

For years, "healthy dessert" meant one thing: take something delicious and start removing bits of it. Less sugar. Less butter. Less of whatever made it worth eating in the first place, until you're left with something that's technically fine but nobody actually wants seconds of.

I don't think that's the right way to think about it anymore.

A dessert can be good for you not because of what's missing, but because of what it's actively doing once it reaches your gut. And once I started looking at it that way, I realised some of my favourite ingredients had been quietly doing gut-healthy work the whole time.

Take the 30 plants a week rule. People who eat 30 or more different plant foods a week have measurably more diverse gut microbiomes than people eating fewer than 10. A dessert with oats, walnuts, figs, and berries in a single sitting is doing more for that number than it looks like on the plate.

Or cacao. In controlled trials it’s behaved almost like a prebiotic, increasing beneficial bacteria like Bifidobacterium while suppressing the less favourable ones. Not bad for something that already tastes like a treat.

And cooled sweet potato smuggles resistant starch past your small intestine entirely, straight down to your colon where your bacteria ferment it into the short-chain fatty acids your gut lining actually runs on.

There's also one fruit that's been specifically studied in clinical trials for bloating and constipation relief. It's not the one most people would guess. (It's in the recipes.)

I've put together seven desserts built around exactly this: cacao, walnuts, figs, cooled sweet potato, whole-fruit chia jam, and more. Each one chosen because of what it does once it's in you, not just what it leaves out. Full recipes on the site now.

This Week's Recipe: Dark Chocolate Bark with Pistachios, Dried Figs & Sea Salt

This one feels like a proper treat, and it's doing more than it looks like. Dark chocolate (85%+) is rich in polyphenols that feed Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus, two of your gut's most important bacterial strains. The dried figs bring calcium and boron alongside prebiotic fiber. And the pistachios add a satisfying crunch alongside fibre and polyphenols that research suggests may support beneficial shifts in gut bacteria, particularly butyrate-producing strains. Break it into pieces and keep it in the fridge for when the 3pm craving hits.

Yours for better health, naturally,

Can a Spice Rival a Drug? 10 Head-to-Head Trials Put It to the Test.

[td] Hey Jim, I want to share something we hear all the time. You don't feel like yourself anymore. Exhausted by afternoon. Foggy by dinner. Wide awake at 3am. Weight that won't budge. Mood and anxiety that won't settle. That quiet sense that the sharp, steady version of you went missing somewhere along the way. Maybe your labs said fine. Maybe somebody shrugged and said it's just aging. Or stress. Or "just hormones." Or maybe you already have a diagnosis. You're on thyroid meds. Or HRT. Or an antidepressant or anxiety med. Or a weight-loss injection. And it never quite delivered what you were promised. So you start to wonder if the problem is you. It isn't. And you're not imagining it. I've been there. My conventional thyroid labs said everything was fine. I knew it wasn't. (Labs said fine. My hair, my sleep, and my foggy brain held a very different meeting.) Functional labs later found Hashimoto's. Looking for a different answer is what brought Dr. Bruce and me into this work. Here's what I learned. Fine on paper is not the same as well. The things you've tried didn't fail because you didn't try hard enough. The pieces underneath were never all looked at together. And those pieces can be addressed. That's what Dr. Bruce and I are teaching live on Tuesday, October 20 at 6:00 PM CT. It's complimentary, and it's a conversation you won't get in a standard appointment. Save my seat →
