Are yesterday’s minor stressors still upsetting you today?

Then take heed. Those negative emotional responses to such things as a flat tire, an argument, or the news of the day that spill over to the next day may be impacting your long-term health.

Research published in the journal Psychological Science indicates that people who carry such stress to the following day are more likely to report health problems and physical limitations later in life compared to those who can “let it go.”

Previous studies suggested such an association with same-day stress, but researchers wanted to know what happens when the negative emotions linger, said psychological scientist Kate Leger of the University of California, Irvine. So they analyzed data from the Midlife in the United States Survey, a nationally representative, longitudinal study of adults.

Participants completed an 8-day survey of negative emotions. Each day they reported how much time over the previous 24 hours they had felt a variety of negative emotions, as well as any stressors they experienced.

Ten years later, the participants completed surveys that assessed their chronic illnesses and functional limitations in carrying out everyday tasks, such as climbing stairs and carrying groceries. And those who had held lingering negative emotions in response to daily stress had more chronic health problems and functional impairments.

“Stress is common in our everyday lives. It happens at work, it happens at school, it happens at home, and in our relationships,” says Leger. “Our research shows that the strategy to ‘just let it go’ could be beneficial to our long-term physical health.”

Fortunately, the strategy can be learned, says Hale Dwoskin, New York Times best-selling author of The Sedona Method and of our Letting Go Paraliminal.

“When you let go of the emotions surrounding an experience, you don’t lose any knowledge you have gained. You simply lose all the excess baggage from the emotions surrounding your experience,” he said.

“By letting go, you release your need to solve life, and the mind gradually lessens its grip until it frees altogether. The space it leaves is refreshingly calm, open, and clear.”

Every evening before you go to bed, release any stressors from your day. Hale recommends the following steps to allow your feelings and emotions to flow freely:

  1. Welcome your feeling, including the thoughts, beliefs, memories, or anything else that may be holding you back. Welcome any sensations you are feeling in this moment.
  2. Welcome any “wanting” to do something about the feeling. Welcome wanting to fix it, wanting to change it, or wanting to control it.
  3. Welcome any sense that this feeling is personal, about you or who you are. When you identify with your emotions, they appear real. That’s when they can hurt. When you welcome any sense that your emotions are personal, you often find they naturally dissolve.

Notice how with the first three steps of welcoming, you quiet your mind, and perhaps already feel happier and more relaxed. As you let go, you open your mind to a new state of expansiveness.
  4. Welcome this emptiness as unlimited possibility.
When your feelings simply flow through you, there is no opportunity to become stuck.

As you go through this releasing process several times, your energy shifts, and you’ll feel lighter and more peaceful as these attachments float away.

The #1 reason accomplished women stay stalled

If you're a smart, capable woman who knows how to make things happen, I've got a vulnerable (but important) question to ask you…

Is there something you've wanted to bring into the world for years that just hasn't happened?

Maybe you've even felt frustrated (or embarrassed!) that it still hasn't happened, especially when you've created so many other results in your life that required courage, intelligence, persistence, and a hell of a lot of hard work…

Claire Zammit has spent more than 20 years helping over 70,000 women break free from this exact pattern, so they can finally create the thing that matters most to them.

In her brand new free guide, Why Setting Another Goal Feels Exhausting (Even When You Know You're Here For More), you'll discover why the approach that built your success may be the very thing keeping your next chapter out of reach. And you can get a FREE copy here today for a limited time.

Already Safe: What if fear isn't telling you the truth?

One of the greatest gifts the Sedona Method provides is the understanding that so much of what we believe about ourselves and the world simply isn't true.

Fear is an excellent example of this:

  • Fear may not be telling you the truth.
  • It may be an expectation rather than a warning.
  • Trying to understand why you're afraid may actually be perpetuating it.
  • And the fears that feel so convincing may depend entirely on memories and imagined futures.
What if your fear only exists because you're remembering or imagining something?

Think about something you're worried about right now. Is it actually happening, or are you remembering something that happened before or imagining something that might happen? You may be surprised at how much fear disappears when you stop living in the mind's version of yesterday or tomorrow and discover what's actually here now.

Hale Dwoskin has spent 50 years exploring these ideas with the thousands of people he's had the joy of working with through the Sedona Method.

And now he has brought together some of the most important discoveries about fear in his new book, Already Safe: Freedom from Anxiety, Fear & Stress with the Sedona Method.

This book helps you see through fear in ways you may never have considered and experience even more of the love, joy, and freedom that are already yours.

LAURA ABOLI THUMBNAIL

Aboli argues the push toward transhumanism is no accident of technology, but a decades long campaign to leave people confused, fearful, and unsure of who they even are. Her reasoning is blunt: someone who has lost any sense of their own identity is far easier to sell on becoming something else. She is not anti technology, and sees real promise in AI used well. What she rejects is the leap from assisting the body to redesigning it. “If we lose our bodily autonomy, we’ve lost everything.”

And this is where the conversation turns. Aboli believes the agenda she has tracked for years is losing ground, and that the future is still ours to choose, if we are willing to imagine it out loud before someone else finishes building the one we don’t want.

Hi Jimi,
There’s a spice researchers are studying for its potential to help prevent cancer, calm inflammation, ease joint pain, and support the brain and heart.
Some health researchers are so enthused by what we’re learning that they call it the king of spices.
And it tastes pretty good, too!

Yours for healthy flavors,
Ocean Robbins
P.S. Because it’s a natural substance, this spice can’t be patented and won’t make any money for the pharmaceutical industry. Therefore, it’s unlikely ever to receive the FDA stamp of approval. But it has extraordinary benefits for your health. Find out all about it here.

Think about the last time a message made your stomach drop.

Before you’d even finished reading it, your body had already moved. Shoulders up. Jaw tight. Heart a little faster. Nothing physical had happened to you, and yet your whole body reacted as if it had.

That’s how stress works. A thought is enough. Your brain reads a threat and sends the signal down. Cortisol rises. Blood sugar lifts so you’ve got fuel to act. Digestion slows (it isn’t a priority right now). Your immune system gets ready, just in case.

That’s brilliant for a five-minute emergency. The problem is most of us are living in a five-year one.
